Christmas in July!
“The fellowship, the food, the bingo! We love it!,” Fern Woodsmall said as she enjoyed “Christmas in July” festivities at Bonanza Wednesday afternoon.
Approximately 25 members of the Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church “out to lunch bunch” have been meeting monthly to enjoy food and fellowship together for many years.
Members of the club said the group was started by Rev. Paul Bokker 25 years ago.
“Everyone’s welcome to come,” Wymon Highfill said. “We meet the second Wednesday of each month.”
This month, members Virginia Highfill and Woodsmall decided the theme should be “Christmas in July”. Several members wore Christmas colors and the room was decorated with Christmas ornaments and gifts. Highfill, Woodsmall and Jollees Jackson wore Santa hats to boot.
After eating the meal, members played bingo as Rudy Woodsmall began calling out the lucky numbers. Esther Goza won the first bingo and chose a nativity scene as her gift. The fun continued as members had the option of trading gifts after winning a game of Bingo.
